Join us to celebrate the 100th birthday of Ruth Slenczynska, world-renowned concert pianist and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Artist-in-Residence and music professor emerita. The last surviving student of Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ruth Slenczynska has performed more than 3,000 recitals and concerts in many countries around the world and has appeared with most of the world's great orchestras. She retired from the SIUE music faculty in 1987 and continued to teach until the year 2001, culminating in a brilliant 37-year career at SIUE. The concert will feature performances from former SIUE Slenczynska students, including Drs. Stan Ford and Randy and Mary Jo Pembrook, and current SIUE pianists, notably Dr. Angela Kim.
Instead of purchasing tickets, we invite you to make a donation to the SIUE Department of Music. All contributions will directly support students majoring in piano studies at SIUE, both undergraduate and graduate.
To donate, please use the link below and select Fund 7078 – Department of Music General Scholarship. In addition, if you'd like to support the Ruth Slenczynska Award, an award that supports a senior with superior contributions in chamber music, you can select Fund 8106 and contribute.
